MONASH BUSINESS AWARDS LUNCH FIRST NOMINEE FOR 2007/08 ANNOUNCED

Russell Hannan, Chairman, Monash Business Awards Committee announced the first nominee, Pierre’s Oyster Seafood Restaurant for the 2007/08-year at the Monash Business Awards Luncheon held on Wednesday 19th September at the Mulgrave Country Club.

Pierre and Ann Godor from Pierre’s Oyster were at the lunch to accept the nomination. They were delighted to be nominated for the awards. Pierre’s Oyster is located at the Pinewood Shopping Centre. With more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and a desire to provide guests with a memorable dining experience, the restaurant has gained a reputation for excellence in service and wonderful food. Russell Hannan said, “This is the first time a restaurant has been nominated for a MBA award since the awards started in 1994”

Guests at the luncheon heard from Guest Speaker Tony Pearson, who provided an economic update. Tony provided some interesting facts about how the economy was going and kept the audience engaged in his presentation. Tony has held the position Head of Australian Economics with the ANZ Bank since in April 2005.

The audience also heard from Roger Christiansz, Managing Director of FLIR Systems Australia P/L, who is a past winner of the Innovation Award. Roger spoke about the positive effect winning the Innovation award has had on the company. He also demonstrated one of FLIR’s products to the audience to give them a better understanding of what the company do.

Aspya, a Young Achievement Australia Group, were also present to promote their product, Bed Bugs, which consists of two connecting clips where one is attached to the quilt and the other to the quilt cover.

The next event is the MBA Breakfast to be held on Wednesday 21st November 2007 at the Mulgrave Country Club. The guest speaker will be John Gardiner, CEO of ConnectEast.
