Nick Green, one of the oarsome foursome and chef de mission for the 2012 Olympic games, inspired the packed room with his experiences and motivations. A goal of an extra inch per stroke was what it took for the four man rowing team to win the Gold medal in Atlanta. He shared his reasons for choosing the flag bearer for Australia at the 2012 Olympics, Lauren Jackson, and when she asked “Why me?” his response was about giving her permission to lead in order to really shine.

We had seven Monash businesses present from a range of categories including Franchise, Micro, Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Hospitality. It was a great mix of businesses with different reasons for existing.

The first of our nominees was Duet Consulting with Russell Newman sharing his more than 20 years of experience in the consulting world and his recent book. Duet Comsulting were nominated in the Micro Category.

Our next nominee has brought his two passions together; sailing and technology to produce a sports based app. Club Operations presented in the Innovation category.

Another Micro business, Honeybell Waterwear, started their presentation with their very own rap song. Analiese Allan made this one night to give the impression that her sunsafe clothing is exciting.

In the franchise category, Joe Bartilotta from Choice Home Loans Wheelers Hill outlined what makes his business stand out from others.

Gosh Hair were nominated by a client for the Corporate Social Responsibility category. Denise Maxwell outlined the special projects they do for the community including teaching her staff sign language, donating hair for wigs, supporting people with cancer through the difficult time of loosing their hair and more.

The first nominee in the hospitality category was the Whisktakers. This is a homebased catering company who produce tasty cakes and pastries for all occasions.

Our final presentation was from the innovation category with Michael Madeira from Group 4 Building Surveyors thanking his staff for their dedication to the business that was turned 18 on the same day.
